Researchers at the Irish Centre for Autism and Neurodevelopmental Research (ICAN) are dedicated to using interdisciplinary, rigorous scientific methods, to advance knowledge of autism and neurodevelopmental disorders.

NUI Galway are partners in an EU consortium of researchers who have been awarded funding by the European Commission as part of Horizon 2020 programme. The project GEMMA (Genome, Environment, Microbiome and Metabolome in Autism) is a ground-breaking autism research project which aims to develope greater understanding of the relationship between autism and gastrointestinal symptoms. Currently, the GEMMA Project is not recruiting new participants.
