Sleep Problems
Sleep problems include insomnia, bedtime resistance, parasomnias (including sleep walking, sleep talking), sleep anxiety, and daytime sleepiness. On-going sleep deprivation can be harmful to an individual’s health, wellbeing, daily functioning and quality of life. Research at ICAN has revealed that a high percentage of individuals with autism experience sleep problems which can exacerbate behaviour problems, hyperactivity and anxiety. Supported by the EU-funded Marie Curie ASSISTID programme, we have developed assistive technology solutions to deliver personalised sleep interventions to families.
